4-Hour Daily Side Hustle: Create Amateur Videos & Make Money
Dave, a 50-year-old serial entrepreneur, has been starting businesses since he was 15.
Most of his ventures failed, with one notable exception in digital marketing. Dave admits that the failures were almost always his fault.
However, in the past few months, he stumbled upon a side hustle that took off and generated a significant income.
The Side Hustle
Dave started creating user-generated content (UGC) ads for advertisers on social media. These short video ads, ranging from 15 to 60 seconds, are designed to look like they were made by amateurs.
In February, Dave grossed over $16,000 and took home $12,000 from this venture, with zero startup costs.
Pros:
Flexible schedule
Fun and creative work
Good money for the average person
Huge demand in the market
Cons:
Requires being on video
Involves learning basic video editing skills
May involve creating ads for embarrassing products ☹
Dave charges around $175 for each ad, which takes him about 20 to 60 minutes to record and edit.
He learned video editing from YouTube and studied successful TikTok content creators to understand what makes an effective ad.
Dave initially found clients on freelance sites (Fiverr), but now they come directly to him. You can see some samples of his work here 👈
Dave estimates that with maximum effort, this side hustle could generate up to $25,000 per month without starting a talent agency.
He believes there is a large market for UGC creators over the age of 30, as most influencers are young females focusing on beauty and home decor, while big-money advertisers need middle-aged creators for products like financial services, insurance, supplements, and home improvement.
Dave shares his experience on his TikTok account, "hiddenmoneydave," which quickly gained 12,000 followers.
He offered to teach others how to do this on Reddit, but only one out of ten people followed through with the provided videos. However, one of his TikTok followers who tried the side hustle got 11 paid bookings in a week.
Dave's story is a typical case of identifying a need, realizing he can fulfill that need, and turning it into a profitable business idea.
While he charges for assistance if he has to spend time helping someone start a business, he believes that everything one needs to know is available online for those willing to put the pieces together, just as he did.

How you can replicate this?
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get started in your own country:
Step 1: Learn the Basics
Study successful UGC ads on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels to understand what makes them effective.
Learn basic video editing skills using YouTube tutorials
Step 2: Acquire Essential Equipment
Start with your smartphone camera. Invest in a ring light and a selfie stick to improve video quality.
As you grow, consider purchasing professional light stands with lights (around $60 total) for higher-end instructional videos.
Step 3: Find Clients
Begin by offering your services to family and friends who have businesses.
Expand your network on platforms like LinkedIn, reconnecting with old employers and co-workers.
Attend local events to meet entrepreneurs and businesses in your area.
Reach out directly to local businesses, leaving a card and following up with an email.
Step 4: Create Engaging UGC Ads
Charge around $100 for each 15-60 second ad, which should take 20-60 minutes to record and edit.
Be conversational and write as if you're having a one-on-one conversation with your audience.
And the best part is, there are other creators offering the same service on Fiverr, which means there’s already a market for it, and you can enter it right now. It all depends on how well you can find clients who are ready to trust you with their UGC ads.
Pro Tip: Have all your friends shoot the videos (which will give the impression of an agency) and pay them for their services. This way, brands get fresh faces for their videos, and you can scale your business quickly.
